About the Program
The Refuge is a bouldering gym at 6283 S. Valley View Blvd, southwest of the Strip, with 11,000 square feet of climbing walls and new problems set every week. For kids there is a separate area with shorter walls, bigger holds and 3 auto belays, away from the adult boulders.
Walk-ins are fine, no reservation needed. Have a parent or guardian fill out the waiver before you arrive, then staff give every new climber an orientation. A day pass is $20, or $15 for ages 5 to 11, and climbing shoes are required: rentals are $5 for shoes and $5 for a harness if your child uses the auto belays. Plan on at least 30 to 60 minutes. A 7 punch pass costs $120, never expires and can be shared with one other person.
The age rules are strict. No child under 5 is allowed on the padded floors, kids 5 to 12 need active supervision, and children 5 to 7 have to stay within a parent's reach unless they are in a staff-led activity.
Kids who catch the bug can join Kids Club for ages 5 to 12, the Rec Team for ages 7 to 16, or the Competition Team for 13 and up. Email refugecoaches@gmail.com for schedules and team prices.
