The Mob Museum

The Mob Museum sits on Stewart Avenue in Downtown Las Vegas, steps from Fremont Street, inside the 1933 federal courthouse. All ages can tour it, but the museum itself notes that some exhibits are graphic and may suit kids 12 and over better. Children under 14 need a parent or guardian with them.

The exhibits fill four floors and cover the history of organized crime and the police work against it. Two hands-on extras have their own age rules: the Crime Lab, where visitors work evidence the way forensic teams do, is for visitors 11 years old and over, and the Firearm Training Simulator is for those 16 years old or over. A 60-minute audio tour in English or Spanish costs $8 per individual, or $6 per person for groups.

The museum is open daily, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Plan on one to three hours. It gets busiest between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., so consider coming earlier or later in the day. Online reservations are encouraged, and you can cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a 100% refund. Leave wagons, skateboards, wheeled shoes and large backpacks at home; there is an elevator to each floor. Groups of 10 or more get special rates, and teachers can request a school field trip.
