About the Program

Scoil Rince Ni Riada is an Irish dance school on West Charleston Boulevard in Las Vegas that teaches dancers ages 5 through adult, from first steps to championship solos.

Director Tara Reid founded the school in 2013. She started dancing at 5, competed at the World Championships, and now also judges Irish dance competitions. Classes cover solo dancing at every level plus ceili, the social group dances danced in groups of 4 dancers up to 16, and a performance team that dances at festivals, schools and corporate events.

Competition is optional. Dancers who want to try it begin at a local competition the school hosts and can work up to regional and national events from there. The weekly schedule includes beginner classes at 5:00 to 5:45 PM and 6:15 to 7:00 PM, the later one at the school's satellite location at Grace Valley Church, and an adult class for all levels on Monday from 8:00 to 9:00 PM.

The school offers a trial lesson, so a child can try a class before you sign up, and it runs a summer camp with limited spots. Ask about fees when you book the trial.

First Visit Guide

What most dance studios expect. Confirm the details with Scoil Rince Ni Riada Irish Dance before you go.

What to bring

  • Leggings or shorts with a fitted top, nothing your child can trip on
  • Bare feet or socks are fine for a trial. Don't buy ballet, tap, or jazz shoes until the studio tells you the exact style and color they want.
  • Hair pulled back, water bottle

Before you go

  • Ask about the dress code before you buy anything.
  • Come early for the waiver and to find the right studio room.
  • Ask how parents watch. Some studios have windows, some have lobby monitors, some are drop-off only.

The first visit

A trial class is normal: warm-up, moving across the floor, and a short routine. The recital and costume fees come months later. Ask when those decisions are due so nothing surprises you.

For sensory-sensitive kids

Mirrors, music, and a room full of kids is a lot at once. Ask if your child can watch a class first, and whether the studio runs smaller classes.
