About the Program

Culture Shock Las Vegas is a nonprofit hip hop dance company at 6280 S Valley View Blvd #110 with three youth troupes. Mini Shock is for ages 6 to 9, Mighty Shock for ages 9 to 13 and Future Shock, the apprentice troupe, for ages 13 to 18. The group says it has served Southern Nevada for 30 years, and the youth troupes are led by Jennaia Roussel, Savannah Hinton Navarro and Alexandria Golda.

Troupe spots are filled by audition, so check the site for the next audition dates. Members commit to weekly Saturday rehearsals, plus some Friday or Sunday sessions around performances. The monthly cost is a $45 troupe fee plus four required studio classes at $8 to $16 per class, and dancers take part in fundraising events. Dancers also need a GPA of at least 2.5. Scholarships are available; text 702-281-7588 to ask.

Future Shock splits into two teams that perform together, one focused on hip hop choreography and one on freestyle.

Culture Shock also runs Awesome Shock with Down Syndrome of Southern Nevada, a coached dance program and performance troupe for DSOSN members, with the class cost subsidized by DSOSN.

Studio classes are sold as drop-ins or at special pricing for one class a week over a 6 week commitment. Missed classes expire 1 month after the last date and cannot be passed to another student. The class schedule changes, so check Culture Shock social media before you go.
