About the Program

Positively Arts is a nonprofit performing arts program on W Sunset Rd in Las Vegas with classes from 18 months old through high school. It has been a 501(c)(3) since October of 2014, and around 70% of the kids it serves are on a scholarship or tuition help.

The programs are split by age and schedule. The youngest come with a parent to Parent & Me at Whitney Ranch Rec Center or to Crafty Dance at the Sunset Rd. studio. Ivy Dreamers is a daytime program for preschool ages that runs 8am to 5:30pm. Homeschool families get two choices: Artist Clubhouse, Tuesday to Thursday from 10am to 2:30pm for Kinder through high school, or the longer Positively Leaders day, Monday through Friday from 9am to 3:30pm. Kids 8 and up can take musical theater, acting, dance, media-making or time in the recording studio.

Private coaching is $70/hour, or $60/hour if your child is already in a group class. One-hour recording sessions come with an MP3 to take home. Scholarships are approved one program at a time, so apply for each class you want. Free options exist too: Get Launched Vegas runs for 3 months every fall, and free master classes in singing, dance, acting and audition prep go out through the newsletter.

First Visit Guide

What most art studios expect. Confirm the details with Positively Arts before you go.

What to bring

  • Clothes that can get messy. Studios supply the materials for almost every kids class.
  • Water bottle

Before you go

  • Ask whether the class is drop-in or a multi-week session.
  • At paint-your-own pottery places, check how pricing works (usually the piece plus a studio fee) and when fired pieces come back.

The first visit

Classes are project-based, so your child starts or finishes something to take home on day one. Teachers scale the same project up or down by age.

For sensory-sensitive kids

Art studios flex better than almost any other activity. Ask about quieter tables, swaps for textures your child hates (wet clay is a common one), and smaller class caps.
