About the Program
Bright Star Acting Academy is the youth program of ADCA (Academy of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts) on South Water Street in Henderson, teaching film acting to kids and teens ages 6 to 16. Improv takes ages 6 to 16, and Acting for TV & Film takes ages 8 to 16.
The youngest start in Little Stars for ages 6 to 8. Acting for TV & Film I, for ages 8 to 15, meets Saturdays from 2:00 to 3:30pm over 12 weeks and allows monthly sign-ups and drop-ins. Level II, for ages 12 to 16, meets Sundays from 2:00 to 4:00pm and ends with a short film. There is also a voice class for ages 8 to 16. Classes usually hold around 10 students, with an assistant teacher added for bigger groups.
Students perform in a showcase every 3 to 4 months, and shy kids can sit out and watch. Everyone gets a chance to join the school's team for the 48 Hour Film Festival, which earns an IMDb credit. Tuition for youth classes is handled by phone, with payment plans offered; call or text (725) 600-2626 and ask about a free class first.
