United Studios of Self Defense/Anthem Hills

United Studios of Self Defense Anthem is a karate dojo on South Eastern Avenue in the Anthem part of Henderson, teaching Kempo karate and self defense. The site calls it the local dojo since 1984.

Kids classes start at age 6. Classes work on focus, discipline and the basics of self defense and awareness, and you can choose group classes or personal lessons to fit your schedule. Teens train with kids their own age, with an emphasis on character. Adults have a Kempo Karate program, and there is a Women's Self Defense class open to all ages and experience levels, which can be a nice option for a mom and teen daughter together.

The first lesson is free for new students. Fill out the sign up form or call (702) 617-8899, and someone from the studio will get back to you. Ask about monthly tuition and any uniform costs on that call. Chief instructor Sensei Victoria Hetey holds a 4th Degree Black Belt, and the site says she works with homeschoolers, seniors and people with disabilities, so ask about class times if your child needs a quieter group.

Hours run Monday to Thursday 1:00 pm to 08:00 pm, Friday 2:00 pm to 07:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 02:00 pm. The dojo has run a summer day camp; ask about next summer.
