About the Program

After-School All-Stars Las Vegas runs a free after-school program inside 21 Title-I schools in the Clark County School District, so it is open to students at those campuses rather than at a stand-alone center. There is no charge to students, families or schools.

The day follows a set pattern. After the dismissal bell, students spend an hour in academic classes with licensed CCSD teachers for homework help, tutoring and mentoring, then an hour of enrichment such as cooking, dance, music, drama, media, outdoor education, service learning or sports. Every program includes a meal from CCSD Food Services. The class menu differs by school, so ask your child's school which enrichment options it has.

The program runs 120 days per year and coordinates over 60 field trips per year around Southern Nevada. It began as Greater Las Vegas Inner City Games in 1995 and joined After-School All-Stars in 2003. The office at 8485 W Sunset Rd, Ste 106 answers questions at 702-259-1850, weekdays from 08:30 to 17:00.

First Visit Guide

What most tutoring centers expect. Confirm the details with After-School All-Stars Las Vegas before you go.

What to bring

  • Recent schoolwork, the report card, or teacher notes. This is the most useful thing you can carry in the door.
  • School-issued logins, since many tutors work inside the same curriculum CCSD uses
  • Your child's IEP or 504 if they have one and you're comfortable sharing it

Before you go

  • Most centers start with an assessment, often free. Book it when your child is fresh, not at 6 pm after practice.
  • Ask how progress gets reported back to you and how often.

The first visit

The first visit is the assessment, then a proposed plan: subjects, how often, group or one-on-one. Walk out knowing the per-session cost and the commitment length, and ask how they handle CCSD break weeks.

For sensory-sensitive kids

Ask whether sessions run one-on-one, in small pods, or on an open floor. Kids who hold it together all day at school often need the quiet room after the bell.
