When to start
Sooner tends to be better, and you do not need to wait for a school referral. For a child under 3, Nevada Early Intervention Services is a free first step. For ages 3 to 5, Clark County School District's Child Find covers developmental screening. Many of the private providers here also take early-intervention referrals, so you can line up private sessions alongside those programs.
How to choose a provider
Open two or three listings that fit your child's age, then call and ask how they run an evaluation, whether they take your insurance, and what a typical session looks like. A provider used to these questions answers them without hesitation.
