Navigate This Guide#
A good lactation consultant can turn a painful first week around fast. Las Vegas has private consultants, hospital clinics, and free peer groups, so cost should not stop you from getting help.
Private lactation consultants#
For one-on-one, scheduled care, **Mindful Lactation** (8876 Spanish Ridge Ave) offers individualized, evidence-based support, and **Baby's First Day** pairs lactation help with postpartum and newborn care. Private visits often happen at home in the early days, which beats packing up a newborn. Ask whether the consultant is an IBCLC, the highest lactation credential, and whether your insurance reimburses the visit.
Hospital breastfeeding support#
If you delivered here, start with the hospital. **[Summerlin](/las-vegas/summerlin) Hospital** has staff lactation consultants who help with latch and supply, and **Centennial Hills Hospital** runs a breastfeeding support group where new mothers get expert guidance and peer connection. These are often low-cost or included with your delivery.
Free groups and WIC#
Help does not have to cost anything. **La Leche League of Nevada** runs free mother-to-mother support and meetings, and **Nevada Health Centers WIC** provides breastfeeding education and support for families who qualify, alongside nutrition benefits. Peer groups are also where a lot of parents find their footing in the first month.
When to get help#
Reach out early. The first two weeks are when most feeding problems, a shallow latch, pain, or supply worry, are the most fixable. If nursing hurts, the baby is not gaining, or you are anxious about supply, that is the signal to call, not to tough it out.
