About the Program
Red Rock Climbing Center on West Charleston Boulevard is an indoor rope and bouldering gym with youth climbing teams for ages 8 to 19 and a Sunday session called Kids Climb Time. The walls run 35 feet high, with top-rope and lead routes on more than 8,000 square feet.
For a first try, Kids Climb Time runs Sundays from 2 to 4 PM for $40.00 per kid, with no more than 5 kids in a session, and staff do the work for those two hours. On other days a kids day pass is $15, plus $10.00 for a harness and shoes.
Kids who want more can join one of three junior teams. Team Three is the developmental group and meets Fridays from 4 to 5:30, Team Two is non-competitive and climbs Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 PM, and Team One competes on Monday and Wednesday from 4 to 6 PM. A season costs $475.00, $950.00 or $1150.00 by team, and that includes a gym membership and gear on practice days. Bouldering season runs August through December, and sport climbing runs January through May.
The group classes are for climbers 14 and older, so younger kids are better served by Climb Time, a team or a private lesson at $75.00 an hour.
