About the Program
New East West Academy is a weekend and after school enrichment school on S. Tenaya Way in the southwest valley (89113). Classes include Chinese, math and English, robotics, chess, art, and speech and debate, and many run on Saturday and Sunday.
There are no classes Thanksgiving week, which is longer than the CCSD Thanksgiving break, so plan for it. Chinese has two tracks, one for heritage speakers and one for kids from non-Chinese-speaking homes working toward the Youth Chinese Test. For the youngest, the PreK & K Chinese Program costs $75 for a full day (9:00 to 3:30) or $40 for a half day. K-12 math and English help through Afficient is $35 a week for 2 hours per subject, online or onsite. Robotics starts at PreK and runs up to VEX competition teams for elementary, middle and high school.
New students pay a $50 registration fee and buy at least one $25 uniform item. A class needs 4 students to run, and tuition is due 2 weeks before it starts. Weekend hot lunch is $8 to $10 a day. Ask about a free trial, and ask about winter camp dates if you need coverage over CCSD winter break.
