About the Program

Family Solutions is a nonprofit in Las Vegas that teaches the court-approved Parenting Partners Seminar for Separating Parents, the co-parenting class Clark County family court requires of parents in divorce, custody and paternity cases. It is a class for the adults, focused on how kids of every age react to a split and how parents can make the change easier on them.

You can take it live or online, and both cost $49 per person. The live class takes 3 hours on a weekday evening. The online version takes a little longer, and you have 30 days from registration to finish. A fee waiver is possible for the in-person class only, through the Self-Help Center at Family Court. You do not have to sit in the same class as the other parent; ask to be scheduled separately.

The site is clear that this is not a parenting skills course. It covers children's reactions at different stages, conflict, communication and parenting plans. When you finish, you get a certificate right away, and you are responsible for filing it with the Clerk of the Court before a decree can be finalized.

After the seminar, Family Solutions offers an ongoing support program and private coaching. It was founded in 2003 by Keisha Weiford, a marriage and family therapist.
