About the Program

Kessler & Sons Music is a family-run woodwind and brass shop that has served the Las Vegas valley since 1989, and its private lessons take place at The Music Studios @ Kessler & Sons. There are two studios: 3211 N. Tenaya Way #105 in Las Vegas and 9550 S. Eastern Ave #120 in Henderson.

Lessons are one-on-one and weekly, and they center on band and orchestra instruments: flute and piccolo, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, low brass, violin, viola and cello. Several teachers list CCSD roles, such as a band instructional assistant and a longtime CCSD music educator, and audition prep coaching is offered for students facing an audition.

Most lessons need no prepayment and no minimum commitment. You book a recurring weekly time and can cancel whenever you need to. Each teacher has a bio page that shows rates and which studio they teach at, and you send an inquiry from that page. If no listed teacher works at the studio closer to you, call the West studio at 702-242-2263 or the Henderson studio at 702-492-7263 and ask who is available. Ask whether a teacher takes beginners at your child's age.

First Visit Guide

What most music schools expect. Confirm the details with Kessler & Sons Music before you go.

What to bring

  • The instrument if you already own one. Studios keep pianos and drum kits on site, so ask what's covered.
  • Any music books from earlier lessons
  • A notebook for practice notes

Before you go

  • Don't buy an instrument before lesson one. Teachers meet your child first, then tell you whether to rent or buy and what size.
  • Ask about the makeup and cancellation policy. It varies a lot between studios.

The first visit

The first lesson is a meet-and-play. The teacher checks interest, ear, and attention span, then suggests a lesson length. Thirty minutes is normal for young beginners.

For sensory-sensitive kids

One-on-one lessons are naturally calm. If volume worries you with drums or brass, ask about headphones or electronic versions.
