About the Program
Zenith BJJ is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school at 1246 S Rainbow Blvd in the Spring Valley area, with kids classes for ages 13 and under and Teen and Adult Jiu-Jitsu from age 14. Grappler Robert Drysdale opened it in Las Vegas in 2008.
Kids can choose between two programs. Kids Jiu-Jitsu teaches the art itself along with some combat technique, and keeps coming back to discipline and respect. Kids No-Gi and Striking centers on self-defense, including how to deal with a bully using words first and physical moves only as a last resort. An After-School Program gives kids a place to move and make friends in the afternoon instead of sitting at a screen.
Teens and adults train in Gi and No-Gi, with three classes a day. The school holds belt testing events several times a year, so kids can see their progress, and it says every coach holds a black belt.
The gym is open Monday to Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 AM, 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Weekends are closed. Ask which of those blocks hold the kids classes.
New students can take 2 free classes before signing up. Call 702-258-0048 to set them up.

First Visit Guide
What most martial arts schools expect. Confirm the details with Zenith BJJ Las Vegas before you go.
What to bring
- A t-shirt and shorts or joggers. You don't need a uniform for a trial class. Schools sell or include one when you sign up.
- Water bottle
- Shoes that slip off easily, since everyone is barefoot on the mat
Before you go
- Trim fingernails and toenails. It's a mat rule almost everywhere.
- Leave the jewelry at home.
- Arrive 10 minutes early so your child can watch the class before theirs and see how it works.
The first visit
Most dojos run a free or cheap trial. Expect bowing in, warm-ups, and basic stances. Teachers see first-timers every week and will put your child at the back where they can copy the older kids.
For sensory-sensitive kids
Ask about class size and whether there's a slower intro class. The line-up-and-bow structure is the same every single class, and that predictability is exactly why a lot of kids with ADHD or autism end up loving martial arts once it's familiar.
