About the Program

SafeRide Driving Academy in Las Vegas teaches behind-the-wheel driving to students who are at least 15 and a half and hold a Nevada instruction permit. Drivers under 18 have to keep that permit for 6 months before they can apply for a license. The academy covers the greater Las Vegas Valley, Henderson and North Las Vegas included, and each lesson starts with a pickup and ends with a drop-off at the spot you pick.

Every lesson runs 2 hours. One lesson is $150, two are $280, three are $405, four are $520 and five are $625, so the rate per lesson drops from $150 to $125 as the package grows. Past five lessons, each extra one adds $120. Freeway training and manual shift training are $150 each for 2 hours. The academy takes cash and Zelle, and a credit card adds a 5% fee.

If your teen needs a car for the DMV road test, the academy car costs $340, with a $170 deposit to hold the slot and one hour of practice beforehand included. You book the DMV appointment yourself, and earlier lessons with SafeRide are not required. For a teen under 18 testing in the family car, the site lists the paperwork: the permit, proof of 50 hours of practice (40 daytime and 10 at night), the certificate for the 30-hour online driver ed course, registration and insurance.

The office works by appointment only, so call (702) 701-4962 to set a time.
