About the Program
Las Vegas Horse Ranch gives riding lessons to kids and adults with no age restriction. It runs two ranch sites, LVHR at Eldorado on 2081 E. Eldorado Ln. and LVHR at Haven, so ask which one your lesson is at. The main requirement for a child is being able to follow instructions closely, and riders under 18 must wear a helmet under Nevada law.
Lessons include the horse, tack and instructor, and riders can bring their own gear. The ranch suggests at least two lessons a week to make progress. Book a date and time on the online calendar, where monthly subscribers use prepaid credits, or call or text 775-296-LVHR (5847). The ranch is open daily 8am to 9pm.

First Visit Guide
What most riding programs expect. Confirm the details with Las Vegas Horse Ranch at Eldorado before you go.
What to bring
- Long pants. Jeans work. No shorts.
- Closed-toe shoes, with a small heel if you have them. No sandals.
- Water and a hair tie. Barns provide helmets at nearly every lesson program, but confirm.
Before you go
- Ask about age and weight minimums.
- Desert barns move lessons to early morning in summer for the horses' sake as much as the kids'.
- Plan for a waiver and a short barn orientation on day one.
The first visit
The first lesson is groundwork first: leading, grooming, learning to mount. Less riding than your child expects, and that's how the good barns do it.
For sensory-sensitive kids
Barns are calm places with sudden noises, whinnies and gate clangs. A short visit to meet a horse before lesson one goes a long way.
