About the Program

The Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association (SNJGA) is a nonprofit, founded in 1977, that runs junior golf across the valley from an office at 8010 West Sahara Ave, Suite 260. It is not a single course or academy. Think of it as the membership that opens the door to cheap rounds and tournaments, with beginner lessons offered too.

Membership starts at $45 for 12 months and includes Youth on Course. Your child gets a member card with a GHIN number and can then play partner courses for $5 or less. The SNJGA says juniors can play for $5 at 20+ Las Vegas courses. One example: Angel Park's Cloud 9 is $5 after 2pm daily.

For kids just starting, Operation36 lessons teach the basics by playing 9 holes with a coach. Tournaments run for every level, from beginners to experts, with a tour schedule and a separate mini tour schedule. There is also a directory of private instructors by area.

If cost is the hurdle, the Adopt-a-Junior program helps qualifying families with membership and tournament fees, and you can apply any time of year. Call (702) 430-2600 or email info@snjga.org.

First Visit Guide

What most junior golf programs expect. Confirm the details with Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association before you go.

What to bring

  • Sneakers. Juniors don't need golf shoes to start.
  • Hat, sunscreen, water
  • Clubs only if you own junior-length ones. Programs and ranges usually lend junior sets, so ask first.

Before you go

  • Check the dress code. Some courses still want a collared shirt, even on juniors.
  • In the cooler months when everyone remembers golf exists, book range and clinic times ahead.

The first visit

Junior clinics start on the range with grip and stance, then short game. Kids don't play actual holes for a while, and that's normal.

For sensory-sensitive kids

Golf is quiet, spread out, and moves at your own pace, which makes it a genuinely good landing spot for kids who find team sports loud. Early morning tee times are the calmest.
