Healing Hooves Therapy

Healing Hooves is a counseling practice at 7495 W. Azure Dr. in the northwest valley that uses horses as part of therapy. It works with kids and teens, adults, couples and whole families, on things like anxiety, mood, family stress and behavior at home and school.

This is not riding. In arena sessions everyone keeps their feet on the ground, and the work is hands-on activities with the horses that help a child practice handling feelings and behavior. For kids on the autism spectrum, the practice says the work targets social skills, mood and self-confidence. Sessions can also happen in the office or by telehealth, and you can mix all three.

The first visit is an intake in the office or online, never in the arena, and you fill out paperwork online beforehand. Cost depends on who you see: $60 per session with a student therapist (no insurance), $90 per session with an intern, and $125 for an appointment with a therapist or psychologist, which takes Tricare. Victims of crime coverage is accepted, and the office can give you a superbill for other plans. For arena days, dress for the weather, since summer in the northwest gets hot.
