About the Program
Clay Paper Ink is an art cafe on South Las Vegas Boulevard where families can drop in and make art without booking ahead. The owner, Melinda Stender, taught art in CCSD schools before opening the studio, and she teaches the instructor-led classes herself.
There are a few ways to visit. Open Studio gives you two hours with all of the supplies for $20, which suits a child who already likes to make things on their own. If that feels like too much choice, pick one of the in-house craft kits or glaze a piece of ceramics, where you pay the posted price plus tax with no studio fee. Classes change each month; repeats include clay classes several times a month, Open Clay Night, felting on Fiber night (plan on 2 to 3 hours) and Beaded Embroidery.
Homeschool families have a class on Thursdays at 10:30 AM, and groups can text the studio to set up their own day and project. A $100 a month membership covers all classes and unlimited open studio.
The studio is open Tuesday to Friday from 12:30 to 9:30 PM and Saturday from 10:30 AM to 9:30 PM, and it is closed Sunday and Monday. Ask about age guidance for classes before you go.
