About the Program

Code E Locs is a Las Vegas nonprofit that teaches free coding classes to kids ages 6 to 17. The weekly class, Learn How to Code, meets Saturdays from 3 to 4 PM at the East Las Vegas Community Center on North Eastern Avenue, and families enroll through the City of Las Vegas website rather than with Code E Locs directly.

The curriculum starts with the basics younger kids need, like using a mouse or touchpad, typing and getting around a computer. From there students work through HTML, CSS and JavaScript with completion milestones, and the program also covers game design and an introduction to artificial intelligence. Beginners and kids who already code are both welcome, and snacks are served during or after class.

The group has been a registered 501(c)(3) since 2021. It also runs workshops for schools and organizations, and high school students can volunteer to earn service hours.
