Christ the Servant Preschool runs at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church on South Pecos Road in Henderson, with half-day classes for 3 year olds and 4 year olds.
The 3 y/o Class meets Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for $240.00 a month. The 4 y/o Class meets Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM for $420.00 a month, so the older group gets twice the days and a bit more time each morning. Both add an annual registration fee of $125.00, which is waived if you pay the full year of tuition up front. For the younger class, children must reach the right age by Aug. 1 and be fully potty trained.
The school calls itself play-based, but it follows the Nevada Pre-k standards and mixes in math, literacy, science and social studies through themes, with art, drama, music and movement woven in to get kids ready for kindergarten. Parents are welcome to volunteer in the classroom. Director Julie Gilmer also teaches.
The church, part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America since 1987, also runs Camp Hope in the summer from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Vacation Bible School, and youth groups for elementary, middle and high school kids. Since mornings end by 12:30, plan for afternoon care if you work full days.
