About the Program

High Performance Golf Institute is a golf school at Reflection Bay in Lake Las Vegas, on the Henderson side of the valley, with private and group lessons for juniors. Its junior program is run by Nicole Dutt-Roberts, a PGA member for over 25 years who coaches the academy's youngest players on the basics.

Juniors have two ways in. A one hour private lesson is $60, and a junior group lesson runs 60 to 75 minutes for $25 per junior, with 3 to 5 juniors in a group. The group option is a low cost way to see whether a child likes the game before paying for privates. Adult private lessons with her are $75 an hour and include a video summary.

Practice happens at the Falls Practice Facility, which has practice holes, bunker areas and greens for putting, chipping and pitching, and some instruction moves onto the Jack Nicklaus designed course at Reflection Bay. Indoors, coaches use Trackman 4 to show swing data. Former PGA Tour players Craig Barlow and Jeff Gallagher lead the rest of the instruction.

The institute also hosts junior camps and offers club fitting, with a one hour Trackman fitting at $99. To book with Nicole, call (702) 526-6530.

First Visit Guide

What most junior golf programs expect. Confirm the details with High Performance Golf Institute before you go.

What to bring

  • Sneakers. Juniors don't need golf shoes to start.
  • Hat, sunscreen, water
  • Clubs only if you own junior-length ones. Programs and ranges usually lend junior sets, so ask first.

Before you go

  • Check the dress code. Some courses still want a collared shirt, even on juniors.
  • In the cooler months when everyone remembers golf exists, book range and clinic times ahead.

The first visit

Junior clinics start on the range with grip and stance, then short game. Kids don't play actual holes for a while, and that's normal.

For sensory-sensitive kids

Golf is quiet, spread out, and moves at your own pace, which makes it a genuinely good landing spot for kids who find team sports loud. Early morning tee times are the calmest.
