About the Program
Desert Willow Golf Course is an 18-hole executive course at MacDonald Ranch in Henderson, with junior rates and a junior academy for ages 6 to 17. The par 60 layout covers 3,811 yards with 12 par 3 holes and 6 par 4s, and the course says it was one of the first in Nevada to add junior tees.
Juniors pay $10 for 9 holes or $15 for 18, against $35 and $49 for public rounds. Kids cannot drive the carts: drivers must be 18 with a license, and an adult can drive a junior for a $20 cart fee or with a paid green fee. Rental clubs are $30, and every player needs their own set. Youth On Course players can book tee times after 2:30 PM.
Pam Bowers founded the Desert Willow Junior Golf Academy, and she and Dale Bowers teach it all year. Kids move through six levels, Blue, White and Red, then Bronze, Silver and Gold, and test on both golf skills and character before moving up, earning a bag tag and certificate at each step. Play days on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons add time on the course, and parents can play along. The range uses mats Monday to Thursday and grass tees Friday to Sunday.

First Visit Guide
What most junior golf programs expect. Confirm the details with Desert Willow Golf Course before you go.
What to bring
- Sneakers. Juniors don't need golf shoes to start.
- Hat, sunscreen, water
- Clubs only if you own junior-length ones. Programs and ranges usually lend junior sets, so ask first.
Before you go
- Check the dress code. Some courses still want a collared shirt, even on juniors.
- In the cooler months when everyone remembers golf exists, book range and clinic times ahead.
The first visit
Junior clinics start on the range with grip and stance, then short game. Kids don't play actual holes for a while, and that's normal.
For sensory-sensitive kids
Golf is quiet, spread out, and moves at your own pace, which makes it a genuinely good landing spot for kids who find team sports loud. Early morning tee times are the calmest.
