First Visit Guide
What most dance studios expect. Confirm the details with Captivation Dance Affiliates before you go.
What to bring
- Leggings or shorts with a fitted top, nothing your child can trip on
- Bare feet or socks are fine for a trial. Don't buy ballet, tap, or jazz shoes until the studio tells you the exact style and color they want.
- Hair pulled back, water bottle
Before you go
- Ask about the dress code before you buy anything.
- Come early for the waiver and to find the right studio room.
- Ask how parents watch. Some studios have windows, some have lobby monitors, some are drop-off only.
The first visit
A trial class is normal: warm-up, moving across the floor, and a short routine. The recital and costume fees come months later. Ask when those decisions are due so nothing surprises you.
For sensory-sensitive kids
Mirrors, music, and a room full of kids is a lot at once. Ask if your child can watch a class first, and whether the studio runs smaller classes.
