About the Program

The Las Vegas Mayor's Cup is a large youth soccer tournament run by Downtown LVSC, a non-profit club, and the proceeds go back into the club's programs. It dates to 2004, when the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club took the event over from the City of Las Vegas. Organizers say it now draws over 1,500 teams a year from 40+ states and 30+ countries, so local kids may face a club they would never meet in league play.

This is a team event, so your child plays if their club team enters. The International Tournament is for boys and girls U8 to U16; check with your coach for the current dates. The showcases follow in 2027: younger players U8 to U12 on February 6 to 7, boys U13 to U19 on February 13 to 15, and girls U13 to U19 on February 19 to 21. Organizers say hundreds of college coaches attend.

For parents, the details that matter: schedules come out two weeks before kickoff, games can start at 8 AM and end as late as 9:50 PM, and every team plays at least once on Sunday, so plan the whole weekend. Benches are for players and team officials only and no shade is provided, so bring your own canopy without stakes. Playing an international team? It is tradition to hand over a small gift like team pins.

First Visit Guide

What most youth sports programs expect. Confirm the details with Las Vegas Mayor's Cup International Showcase before you go.

What to bring

  • Water, and then more water. In this valley the heat decides practice more than the coach does from May through September.
  • Athletic clothes, sunscreen, and a hat for outdoor fields
  • Sport basics if you own them. Lots of intro programs lend gear for trials, so ask before buying.

Before you go

  • Confirm the exact field or court. The big parks have a dozen and the 215 traffic doesn't forgive a wrong guess.
  • Summer schedules shift to early evening for the heat. Check the seasonal calendar.
  • Day one usually has paperwork and team assignment, so come early.

The first visit

Expect drills and small-sided play. Leagues group by birth year. Before you commit, ask how many practices there are per game and where the games actually get played, because home field can mean Henderson one week and North Las Vegas the next.

For sensory-sensitive kids

Whistles and sideline noise are the hard part. Ask about clinic-style sessions that are skills only, with no game crowd, as a first step.
