About the Program
Freedom Skatepark is the public skate park inside Gary Reese Freedom Park, a 68-acre city of Las Vegas sports park at 850 N. Mojave Road (89101) that is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Because the skate park is one of many things at the park, it works well when only one kid in the family skates.
While a skater rides, younger siblings can use the playgrounds, and the park also has baseball and softball fields, soccer practice fields, a volleyball court, a disc golf field and horseshoe pits. Adults can use the fitness course, the exercise stations or the walking and jogging path. The Carlos L. Martinez and Darrio J. Hall Family Pool is on the grounds too. Restrooms, barbecue grills and reservable picnic areas make it workable for a birthday, and the city takes special event applications. The dog park has separate runs for large and small dogs and closes from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays for maintenance. The park is named after a former city councilman.
