About the Program
Lorenzi Park is a city of Las Vegas park at 3333 W. Washington Ave. built around twin lakes and open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Kids can fish in the spring-fed lakes, but anyone fishing needs a license from the Nevada Department of Wildlife, and the city asks visitors not to feed the wildlife.
For younger kids there are play areas with a water play feature, plus picnic and shade structures. Older kids get basketball courts, soccer and softball fields, and tennis courts run by No Quit Tennis Academy. The fields, a picnic area and a pavilion can be reserved through the city.
The park also doubles as a history lesson. David G. Lorenzi bought 80 acres here in 1912, opened Lorenzi's Lake Park in 1926 with a pool and dance pavilion, and in 1940 the land became Twin Lakes Lodge, a resort with a 48-room hotel. Markers around the park tell that story as you walk. The park is on both the city and state historic registers, and the Nevada Garden Clubs are based here too.
