About the Program
Real Talk Youth Impact Program of Nevada is a free program in Las Vegas for kids ages 8 to 18. It aims to keep young people out of the juvenile justice system, or help them stay out once they have been in it.
The core of the program is the monthly Change One meeting. Kids are expected to come to four Change One meetings plus one required career prep class. At each meeting, guest speakers talk about their own lives, and many of them are current or former federal and state offenders, which is the point: the program is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit built by people who have been through the system. It was founded in 2012 by Sheree Corniel, a former federal probation officer.
The group says it has worked with more than 2,300 at-risk youth, with 1200+ program graduates, and has sponsored more than $350,000 in extracurricular activities. Its speakers are guided by the L.E.A.R.N. values: Lead, Educate, Aspire, Respect and New Beginnings.
There is no cost to families. Pre-register on the site for an upcoming Change One meeting, and ask where meetings are held and what time they start.
