Las Vegas Fishing Tours runs guided half day fishing trips on Lake Mead and the Colorado River, and the guide will teach kids and first timers the basics if needed. Trips leave in the early morning or early afternoon and last about 6 to 7 hours, counting the drive.

Lake Mead trips go after largemouth, smallmouth and striped bass, with up to 6 passengers on the boat. Colorado River trips target striped bass and other species and take a max of 2 passengers, so ask about those.

The Lake Mead rate is $539 for up to 2 people. Each extra angler adds $100, and each extra rider who will not fish adds $75. Pickup from the Strip or downtown is included, local families meet the guide by the Bass Pro Shop, and driving yourself takes $90 off. Gear, tackle, life jackets, soft drinks and snacks come with the trip.

Plan ahead for licenses: everyone 12 and older needs a Nevada fishing license, bought before the trip. The one day non-resident license is $19; residents should check the state rate.

Booking takes a $140 deposit. If you cancel, the deposit is not refunded, but it turns into a $140 credit for a later trip that you can pass to friends or family. Boats are alcohol free and drug free. Call or text 702-699-7898 to book.
