About the Program

Dream Dance Academy is a downtown Las Vegas dance school on Fremont Street with three levels: Tiny Tots for ages 3 to 7, a Jr. Level for ages 8 to 12 and a Sr. Level for ages 13 and up.

Tiny Tots is the starting point. Using games, stories and songs, the class works on balance, rhythm and coordination and introduces basic ballet, tap and jazz. The pricing page lists a Sundays 10am-11am Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo at $100 a month as an introduction to music and movement; ask whether it is the Tiny Tots class.

The Jr. Level is a bigger step. Dancers train at least 7 hours a week across styles, and the plan for ages 8 to 12 is $275 a month. Students for the Jr. and Sr. Levels are picked through auditions held every summer, so ask about audition timing if your child wants to move up. The Sr. Level adds advanced combinations, classical variations and ballet history, and pointe is added once a dancer has strong ballet technique.

The school teaches ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap and hip hop. The site's welcome note comes from Sumayah M. Jackson, who grew up in NYC, earned her B.F.A. from The Juilliard School and performed with The Parsons Dance Company. Call (917) 334-6796 to ask about the current class schedule.

First Visit Guide

What most dance studios expect. Confirm the details with Dream Dance Academy before you go.

What to bring

  • Leggings or shorts with a fitted top, nothing your child can trip on
  • Bare feet or socks are fine for a trial. Don't buy ballet, tap, or jazz shoes until the studio tells you the exact style and color they want.
  • Hair pulled back, water bottle

Before you go

  • Ask about the dress code before you buy anything.
  • Come early for the waiver and to find the right studio room.
  • Ask how parents watch. Some studios have windows, some have lobby monitors, some are drop-off only.

The first visit

A trial class is normal: warm-up, moving across the floor, and a short routine. The recital and costume fees come months later. Ask when those decisions are due so nothing surprises you.

For sensory-sensitive kids

Mirrors, music, and a room full of kids is a lot at once. Ask if your child can watch a class first, and whether the studio runs smaller classes.
