About the Program

Barry's Boxing Center is a nonprofit amateur boxing gym on S Highland Dr in Las Vegas, with youth memberships for ages 8 to 17 and a Saturday Little Boxers class for ages 5 to 7. Eight is also the minimum age USA Boxing sets for amateur boxers.

Youth members can train Monday to Friday from 4 to 8 PM. The one structured class is a 4:30 PM conditioning session, and Saturdays add open gym from 11 AM to 3 PM. Little Boxers meets for 45 minutes on Saturday mornings, 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM. A full workout can run 90 minutes to 2 hours, so plan the ride home.

Youth dues are $85 for the first month, then $60 a month. Little Boxers is $40 a month. Every member also pays a $25 club fee once a year. Kids register with USA Boxing too (the gym's FAQ lists $65.00, 2 passport-size photos and a copy of the birth certificate) and bring a certificate from a doctor's physical. Gym equipment is included, but each boxer needs hand wraps ($10.00 at the gym), boxing or wrestling shoes within the first month, and a mouthpiece before sparring.

For extra coaching, private lessons for ages 8 and up cost $85.00 each when you book one or two, $65.00 each for 3 or 4, and $50.00 each for 5 or more.
