About the Program

The Dojang is a traditional martial arts school on Wigwam Pkwy in Henderson, in the Pecos Legacy Center near CVS, teaching karate and taekwondo to kids from age 3 and up. Classes split into three age groups for each style: HunGee and YaGee for 3 to 7 years old, Juniors for 7 to 12 years old, and Adults for 13 and up.

The two styles feel different. Karate leans on hand techniques and katas (forms), while taekwondo adds more kicking, jumping and spinning plus hapkido wrist work. Staff talk through the choice with each family. Juniors who reach a set belt rank can join Advanced Training, including weapons classes for purple belts and above.

Jhonya's Club offers classes for students with disabilities, learning disorders or developmental delays, ages 4 to 10 years old, and Jhonya's Club 2 continues for ages 11 and up. Founder Master Jackson started training in 1975 and opened the school in 2001.

Any class can be tried once for free. Ask whether a new-student package that includes a uniform is running when you call. Military members and veterans get 10% off membership, and extra family members get a discount. Call (702) 933-0200 for monthly tuition and the class schedule.
