Ruben's Wood Craft and Toys

Ruben's Wood Craft and Toys, in Boulder City, offers woodworking workshops, toy making classes, craft projects, general creative arts activities, and sculpture classes for kids ages 3 to 18, across three brackets: 3-5, 6-12, and 13-18. The shop is located at 555 Hotel Plaza, zip code 89005, and is open year round with a limited weekly schedule: closed Monday and Tuesday, open Wednesday through Friday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The focus on woodworking and toy making sets this apart from a typical visual arts studio, since kids are working with actual wood and craft materials to build something they can take home rather than only painting or drawing. Sculpture classes are also part of the offering, which suggests a range of hands-on, three-dimensional project work rather than flat-surface art alone.

The location is wheelchair accessible. Pricing is listed in the $$ range.

Because the shop is closed the first two days of the week and keeps a four-hour afternoon window most other days, families should plan visits or class sign-ups around that limited schedule, particularly since Wednesday through Friday hours run only from noon to 4:00 p.m. Saturday offers the longest window, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

For questions about specific class offerings, current project options, or scheduling a workshop, the shop can be reached at (702) 324-6923. More information and updates are posted at facebook.com/rubenswoodcraft, since the business uses a Facebook page rather than a standalone website.

Families in or near Boulder City looking for a hands-on making activity beyond standard painting or drawing classes, especially one where kids build a physical toy or wood project, may find this a good fit given the age range covers preschoolers through teens.
