What children's activities cost, where the free options are, and which neighborhoods are underserved — from a census of 3,429 programs and 2,182 upcoming family events.

1,343 of the 2,182 family events on Las Vegas–area calendars over the coming months cost nothing to attend — most run by the library district, city recreation departments, and Clark County.

Among programs publishing starting prices, junior golf averages $353 to start, behavioral therapy $217, and horseback riding $183 — while indoor play averages $19, baseball $20, and youth basketball $29.
kids programs in the valley is completely free
647 of the 3,429 programs tracked charge nothing, led by recreational soccer (79 free programs), basketball (43), and hiking and outdoor programs (34).

North Las Vegas has 202 listed kids programs to Henderson’s 596 — despite comparable child populations. It is the valley’s clearest activity desert.

The free-activity economy
Las Vegas families have far more free options than most realize. Beyond the 647 permanently free programs, 62% of the valley's upcoming family events are free to attend. The free supply is concentrated in public institutions: the Las Vegas–Clark County Library District, city recreation centers, and Clark County parks. Recreational sports leagues account for the largest share of free ongoing programs — 79 free soccer programs and 43 free basketball programs operate across the valley.
The pattern reverses in skill-instruction categories: of 92 dance programs, zero are free; of 56 gymnastics programs, zero are free; of 65 music-lesson providers, one is free. Families priced out of instruction categories depend almost entirely on the public-institution supply.
The North Las Vegas activity desert
Program supply is heavily uneven across the valley. Henderson hosts 596 listed kids programs and the City of Las Vegas 2,520 — but North Las Vegas, with a comparable child population to Henderson, has just 202. A North Las Vegas family faces roughly one-third the local options of a Henderson family, translating into longer drives and heavier reliance on free public programs.
Methodology
Figures reflect the PlayPivot directory as of September 15, 2026: 3,429 publicly listed children's programs across 208 categories in the Las Vegas valley (Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, and surrounding Clark County communities), plus 2,182 upcoming family events aggregated from official library, city, county, and museum calendars. Cost-tier percentages are computed among the 2,184 programs with a published price tier; average starting prices are computed among programs publishing an exact starting price and are indicative rather than exhaustive. Category averages with fewer than 5 published prices should be treated as directional.
